About the Role
The UI Platform team at Figma builds the internal systems that every product team relies on — from our design token pipeline to our layout primitives to our CSS architecture. We're looking for an engineer who thinks deeply about CSS and wants to define how a design tool's own interface is built.
You'll own hard CSS problems: layout at extreme scales, theming across light/dark/high-contrast modes, responsive design for a desktop-class web app, and performance optimisation for a rendering-heavy interface.
Requirements
- Expert-level CSS — you can explain exactly why a layout breaks in edge cases
- Experience with CSS custom properties, container queries, and modern layout
- Strong TypeScript skills
- 3+ years of frontend engineering experience
- Passion for web performance — Core Web Vitals, painting, compositing
Nice to Have
- Experience with CSS Houdini or paint worklets
- Experience building tools or devtools for other engineers
