Short version: CSSAwwwards collects only the minimum data needed to operate the site. Interactive tools run entirely in your browser — we never see what you build. If you submit a tool, CSS snippet, or job listing, we store the details you provide for review purposes only. Your contact email for job listings is kept private and never displayed publicly.

1. Who We Are

CSSAwwwards (https://cssawwwards.com) is a free CSS tools directory and community platform operated as an independent project. We provide a curated directory of CSS tools, a library of community CSS snippets, a jobs board for frontend developers, interactive mini-tools, and educational blog content. We are not affiliated with Awwwards or any other commercial entity of a similar name.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Voluntarily

CSSAwwwards does not require you to create an account to browse the directory or use any interactive tool. Personal information is only collected when you choose to interact with our community features:

Newsletter subscription

If you subscribe to our optional newsletter, we collect your email address solely to send weekly CSS tool updates. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email.

Tool submissions

If you submit a CSS tool via our Submit page, you may voluntarily provide your name or alias, a contact email address, and the URL and details of the tool. This data is used solely to review your submission.

CSS Snippet submissions

If you submit a CSS snippet via our Snippets submission form, we collect:

Your name or alias (optional)
Your website URL (optional)
Your email address (optional, used only to notify you if your snippet is approved or rejected)
The CSS snippet code, title, description, and category you submit

Approved snippets are published publicly on the site. Your name and website may be displayed as attribution if you provided them. Your email address is never displayed publicly.

Job listing submissions

If you post a job listing via our Jobs board, we collect:

Job title, company name, company website, location, job type, and salary range
Job description, requirements, and tech stack tags
An application URL or application email address (displayed publicly on the listing)
A contact email address (used only for our internal review process and to communicate the status of your listing — this is never displayed publicly)

Approved job listings are published publicly. The contact email you provide is stored securely and used only for administrative communication between CSSAwwwards and the submitting employer. It is not shared with job seekers or third parties.

2.2 Automatically Collected Data

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically collect standard server log data including IP addresses, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is used solely for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis. It is not linked to any individual user and is not sold.

2.3 Interactive Tool Data

All interactive tools on CSSAwwwards (gradient generators, shadow builders, colour pickers, button generators, etc.) run entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. No design data, CSS values, colours, or settings you configure in any tool are ever transmitted to our servers. When you close the browser tab, your session data is gone.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect solely for the following purposes:

To review and respond to tool, snippet, and job listing submissions
To send the newsletter to subscribers who have opted in
To notify submitters of the status of their submissions (approved, rejected, or requiring changes)
To operate, maintain, and improve the Service
To detect and prevent abuse, spam, or fraudulent submissions
For aggregate, anonymised analytics to understand how the site is used

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating CSSAwwwards.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited data only in the following circumstances:

Service providers: We use Supabase (a GDPR-compliant database and backend platform) to store submission data. Supabase processes data under a Data Processing Agreement and may store data in the EU or US under Standard Contractual Clauses.
Email provider: Our newsletter email address list is stored with a third-party email platform that complies with GDPR and CAN-SPAM requirements.
Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.

Beyond the above, no personal data is shared with third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose.

5. Cookies

CSSAwwwards uses minimal cookies necessary for the operation of the site:

Session cookies: Temporary cookies used for basic site functionality. These expire when you close your browser.
Analytics (if enabled): If we use privacy-respecting analytics (such as Plausible Analytics or a self-hosted solution), these tools do not use cookies and do not track individuals across sites. No personal data is collected.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking of any kind. You can use CSSAwwwards fully with cookies disabled in your browser.

6. Third-Party Links

CSSAwwwards is a directory linking to third-party CSS tools and services. When you click an external link and visit a third-party website, you leave CSSAwwwards and that website's own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party sites we link to. This includes any job application URLs or employer websites linked from our jobs board.

We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any external tool or employer website before entering personal or sensitive data into it.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary:

Newsletter email addresses: Retained until you unsubscribe, after which they are deleted from our email platform within 30 days.
Tool and snippet submission data: Retained indefinitely for record-keeping purposes. Rejected submissions may be deleted periodically.
Job listing data: Standard listings are active for 15 days and then expire. Featured listings are active for 60 days. After expiry, listings are no longer publicly displayed but may be retained in our database for administrative purposes. You may request deletion of your listing and associated contact data at any time by emailing contact@cssawwwards.com.

If you subscribe to the CSSAwwwards newsletter, your email address is stored with our email service provider and used only to send you weekly CSS tool updates.

You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
We will never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties for marketing purposes.
We will never send you unsolicited commercial email unrelated to CSSAwwwards content.

9. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we hold:

Right to access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data.
Right to restriction: Request that we restrict processing of your data.
Right to data portability: Request your data in a portable format.
Right to object: Object to our processing of your data.
Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time.

California residents: we do not sell personal information as defined under the CCPA. You have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request its deletion.

10. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any data we handle. Our site is served over HTTPS. Submission data is stored in Supabase with row-level security policies that restrict public access to approved content only — pending and rejected records, and all contact email addresses, are accessible only to authorised administrators. However, no method of internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's Privacy

CSSAwwwards is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at contact@cssawwwards.com and we will promptly delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of CSSAwwwards after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
