Junior Frontend Developer — Web Player
About the Role
Spotify's Web Player team builds the streaming experience used by listeners who can't or won't install a native app — and it needs to be just as good. We're hiring a Junior Frontend Developer to join a team that takes web platform quality seriously: performance, accessibility, and progressive enhancement are first-class concerns, not afterthoughts.
You'll be working in a large, modern React + TypeScript codebase, shipping features to hundreds of millions of monthly active users. We pair experienced engineers with juniors and invest heavily in mentorship.
What you'll work on:
- Player controls, queue management, and now-playing views - Accessibility improvements across the listening experience - CSS theming for Encore, Spotify's design system - Feature experiments and A/B test variants
Requirements
- 1–3 years of professional frontend development experience
- Solid React and TypeScript fundamentals
- CSS knowledge: flexbox, grid, custom properties, responsive design
- Genuine interest in web accessibility — you've used a screen reader at least once
- Ability to work in an English-speaking, distributed team
Nice to Have
- Experience with Web Audio API or media playback APIs
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Familiarity with Storybook and component-driven development
